My recent stay at Hakonehostel1914 exceeded all my high expectations and truly stands out as one of the best experiences I've had in my travels. The hostel, housed in a beautifully renovated old post office building, offers a charming atmosphere along with clean, spacious accommodations that provide a surprising amount of privacy, even in the shared dorms. One of the most remarkable aspects of my stay was the delightful Kana-san, our host, who generously shared her extensive knowledge of the area, recommending the best local restaurants and onsens, and even assisting with our reservations. The fully equipped shared kitchen was a fantastic addition, making it convenient to prepare meals while enjoying a sense of community with other guests. Although there is no air conditioning, Kana thoughtfully provided a cooling blanket that ensured comfort throughout the night. With its ideal location in Miyanoshita and the warmth of Kana's hospitality, this hostel is a gem that I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking to experience the best of Hakone.
